Simple Guide to Choosing Office

If you have ever worked in an office, had your own office or even just walked through an office - you would have probably seen one. I'm talking about Office Chairmats. Chairmats are primarily designed to protect your floor surface from wear and tear caused by the castor wheels on office chairs. Carpets are generally the main victim when it comes to wear and tear caused by office chairs so it stands to reason there are more options available for protecting them. There are three varieties of Chairmat commonly found - PVC, Polycarbonate and Rubber. PVC and Polycarbonate are very similar looking - a frosted clear hard plastic type of material allowing the carpet's colouring and patterns to show through whilst cleverly camouflaging any existing wear. Rubber is generally black therefore covering anything it is laid on. PVC and Polycarbonate Chairmats are manufactured with spikes on the underside to prevent the mat from creeping about on carpets while at the same time offering extra "flex strength". As there are a variety of different thicknesses of carpet so too are there a variety of Chairmats designed to suit these applications. Chairmats are generally available in Low Pile, Medium Pile, Deep Pile and Plush Pile versions and should definitely be used in the correct application as warranties offered can be compromised if for example a Medium Pile Chairmat is used on a Deep Pile carpet. A typical sign that a Chairmat is being used on a carpet depth that is unsuitable is premature cracking or "starring" appearing on the Chairmat, sometimes to the point where these cracks will go right through the Chairmat causing it to slowly break up. Chairmats are also available without spikes for use on hard floors such as Timber floors, Tiles, Polished concrete and Linoleum. If your unsure what Chairmat option is best suited to your office simply contact your local Mat specialist and ask them to perform what is often referred to as the "Pin Test". This is a simple way to check how deep your carpet and underlay is - and yes the underlay is part of the equation when deciding what depth of carpet you have. Once you have worked out what type of Chairmat you require the only remaining question - what shape and size? One of the more popular Chairmat shapes is commonly referred to as a "Keyhole" Chairmat which simply means the shape resembles a keyhole. Other shapes available are Rectangle, Oval, Triangle, Contour and Circle with more shapes appearing all the time. WLDyhEO0
